Domain Names with Voila

Through the Custom DNS section of the Domain Manager, you can change different types of DNS records for your domain names, including A, AAAA, MX, NS, SRV, CNAME and TXT resource records. Adding a new record is quite easy. All you have to do is choose a domain name and fill in the resource record that you want. Any change you make will be reflected live within just one day. If you want to retrieve the default record value, just click the Revert button.

The Custom DNS section also features a GeoIP location tool, which allows you to point people from a certain geographic location to a particular language version of your website.

When you register a new domain, the WHOIS info associated with it, by rule, becomes immediately available to the public eye. In the Domain Manager included in your Control Panel, you will find a WHOIS protection feature that can help you mask your private details by substituting them with our contact information.

The WHOIS protection functionality is available with most of the TLD extensions offered on our website: .com, .info, .biz, .net, .org, .co, .co.za, .me, .tv, .pro, .cc.

With the Wildcard functionality available in the Domain Manager, you’ll be able to make all the hosts that you have under a given domain name load the home page of your website.

This option can be rather useful if you want to set up a multi–site application on your web site, or if you want a certain subdomain to point to the index page of your website.

You’ll be able to add a wildcard domain with one single click of the mouse from the Control Panel–integrated Domain Manager interface. You simply have to hit the Add Host button located on the right and you’ll see the Wildcard option at the bottom of the dialogue box.

An SSL certificate enciphers the connection between your customers and your online store and tells everybody that it is a riskless place to shop. You’d ordinarily get an SSL certificate from a 3rd–party provider. However, at Voila, you can get one right through your hosting Control Panel.

Simply go to the SSL Certificates menu and choose if you want a regular SSL certificate or a wildcard SSL certificate. Then simply request an activation and we’ll accomplish everything else for you straight away.

Using the GeoIP location tool integrated into the Domain Manager, you’ll be able to point a given language version of your web site to a specific geographic market. It sports an intuitive point & click interface where you don’t have to type any code. Just insert the whereabouts of your future visitors plus the URL that you’d like to open for those visitors.

For example, if you’ve got a German version of your site at de.your–site.com, you’ll have to type it in the URL field and choose Germany as a destination market. This way, whenever a visitor from Germany goes to your web site, they’ll see de.your–site.com instead of your–site.com.
